About the Tariff Refund Tracker
What this tool does, who runs it, and how it handles data.
What It Is
The Tariff Refund Tracker is a free, informational check for U.S. businesses that paid IEEPA tariffs. It explains who can file for a refund through CBP’s CAPE process, which phase fits a set of entries, and what to do next, and it sends alerts when the rules change.
Every number and process fact on this site comes from a cited source and shows when it was last checked. The sources, from CBP and the courts to law firms and trade press, are rechecked automatically, and any change is reviewed before the guidance here is updated.
What It Is Not
It is not CBP, and it does not file anything with CBP. It is not legal, tax or customs advice, and it cannot say whether a refund will be approved, how much it would be or when it would arrive. Those decisions belong to CBP and the courts. For advice on specific entries, talk to a licensed customs broker or a trade lawyer.
Who Runs It
OpenGrants, an independent company that helps small businesses and nonprofits find grants and other public funding, built and runs this tool. OpenGrants takes no position on tariff policy.
Independence
OpenGrants is an independent company. This tool is not affiliated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Court of International Trade, or any government agency, and it is informational only — not legal, tax or customs advice. CBP charges no fee to process refunds.
How Data Is Used
The check needs no account. Answers are held in a short-lived, signed browser cookie, never in the page address. Usage counts record which steps and results are viewed, never who viewed them.
Each kind of email has its own unchecked box: refund alerts, and Funding Friday, the weekly OpenGrants funding email. Every sign-up is confirmed by email before anything else is sent, and the check result is stored with the sign-up so alerts can match it. Contact details stay in the systems OpenGrants uses to run this tool and send its email, and they are never sold. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and preferences can be changed at any time.
Full terms are on the OpenGrants legal page.
